Building the Little K Company

Hi - I'm Kat, founder of the Little K Company.

As a former competitive athlete, I’ve always cared deeply about nutrition, the environment, and the quality of the products I bring into my home.

More than fifteen years ago, I swapped plastic food containers for glass as a simple way to reduce my exposure to plastics.

A Parent's Challenge

When I became a parent, I was just as thoughtful about the materials my children used and the food that fueled their growing bodies.

But when my oldest daughter started school, glass containers were not practical—and I was surprised to discover that there were very few non-plastic alternatives available for kids’ lunches.

I couldn't find a lunch box I actually trusted.

An Expensive Proposition

I tried many of the popular plastic bento boxes and even a stainless steel option I found, but none of them held up. Latches broke. Containers leaked. Moisture led to mold. Food wasn’t staying fresh enough by lunchtime, and I often found full lunches coming back home.

That year alone, I spent more than $250 replacing lunch boxes—a number that made no sense to me. Spending that much every year, for each child, on something that should last just didn’t add up.

So I started searching for a better solution.

A Better Solution

I found a manufacturer who could make a stainless steel design that addressed all the challenges I had been experiencing. I ordered a prototype and began using it daily. For the next two years, that lunch box completely changed our routine.

Food stayed fresh. Lunches were actually being eaten. The box still looked brand new.

  • No broken latches.
  • No leaks.
  • No mold.

Just fresh, nutritious food to fuel my daughter’s day.
